Pride in place can be hard to find in our modern world, but Oregon has no shortage.
Since my singa-PORT-land blogs have been rather Singapore-centric , I want to provide some balance and share a quick summary of Portland's acclaim (from City's website):
1. One of the Top 10 Cities Worldwide (Rough Guides, 2014)
2. One of the Five Best Places to Live (Guardian, 2012)
3. No. 2 Best City to Live Car Free (Wall Street Journal, 2011)
4. No. 12 Most Walkable U.S. City (Good Housekeeping)
5. Fittest City in America (Men's Fitness, 2014)
I find # 2 and 3 most impressive, especially considering the sources.
Rose City. City of Roses. Bridgetown. Bridgeport. Stumptown. Home of the Timbers. Lots to love <3
Just don't get the Mayor of Portlandia started on Portland's charms...
